- Website usage information, including cookies and analytics data where applicable.
We aim to collect only the personal information reasonably necessary to operate our services and community.
## 3. Event Bookings and Business Memberships
Our website is hosted by Squarespace.
When you book an event or purchase a Business Membership, personal information is processed through Squarespace and the relevant payment providers.
We use this information to:
- Process and confirm event bookings.
- Administer memberships and subscriptions.
- Communicate important information about events you have booked.
- Respond to enquiries and provide customer support.
- Manage cancellations, refunds and payments.
- Maintain appropriate business, accounting and financial records.
We do not use booking or membership email addresses to send marketing newsletters or unsolicited promotional emails.
We do not sell members’ personal information or provide contact details to businesses for independent marketing.
## 4. Facebook Community
DWC operates a Facebook community where women can connect, share experiences, make friends and participate in discussions.
We do not currently collect additional personal information through Facebook membership questions.
However, DWC administrators may be able to view information made available through members’ Facebook profiles, posts, comments and messages.
Facebook is operated by Meta and processes personal information in accordance with its own privacy policies.
Members should avoid sharing personal or sensitive information publicly unless they are comfortable with other group members seeing it.
## 5. WhatsApp Communities
DWC operates WhatsApp groups to support friendships, activities, events and shared interests.
Participation in WhatsApp groups is voluntary.
When joining a WhatsApp group, other members may be able to see your:
- Telephone number.
- WhatsApp profile name.
- Profile photograph, depending on your privacy settings.
- Messages and information shared within the group.
WhatsApp is operated by Meta and is subject to its own privacy practices.
Members are responsible for managing their own WhatsApp privacy settings and deciding what personal information they share.
DWC administrators may process information necessary to manage membership requests, administer groups, enforce community rules and respond to safety concerns.
WhatsApp invitation links must not be shared with anyone who has not completed DWC’s required identity verification process.
## 6. Identity Verification for WhatsApp Membership
To help protect our members and maintain a safe community, DWC requires identity verification before providing access to its WhatsApp groups.
We are currently sourcing a specialist third-party identity verification provider.
Until this service is introduced, applicants who wish to join may choose to complete verification through Facebook Messenger with a DWC administrator.
Applicants using this temporary process are asked to show only their name and photograph on an identification document.
All other details, including their address, date of birth and document number, should be concealed before sharing.
Identification is viewed solely for the purpose of helping confirm the applicant’s identity.
DWC does not intentionally retain copies of identification documents as permanent membership records.
Following verification, administrators delete the relevant Messenger conversation from their own account.
However, deleting a Messenger conversation does not necessarily remove information retained by Meta, the sender or other systems.
Applicants should review Meta’s privacy information before choosing to use Messenger for verification.
This process is intended to support community safety. It does not constitute a formal background check or guarantee the identity or behaviour of another member.
## 7. Sensitive Personal Information
Some DWC groups and discussions involve personal subjects, including health, wellbeing, relationships, family circumstances and other sensitive matters.
Members may voluntarily share information about their personal experiences.
DWC does not require members to disclose sensitive personal information to participate in ordinary community activities.
Information shared in Facebook or WhatsApp groups may be visible to other members.
Where sensitive information is communicated privately to administrators, we aim to limit its use to the purpose for which it was provided and apply appropriate safeguards.
Where special category personal information is processed by DWC, we will identify an appropriate lawful basis and additional condition under UK data protection law.
Members are encouraged to respect one another’s privacy and avoid sharing another person’s personal information without permission.
